While poverty is an important barrier to positive health outcomes for both men and women, poverty tends to yield a higher burden on women and girls’ health due to, for example, feeding practices (malnutrition) and use of unsafe cooking fuels (COPD).When families do not have enough food to go around, women are typically the last to eat, consuming smaller amounts in order to feed growing children or spouses.
HPPRI empower women and youth through agriculture improvement providing agriculture inputs, provide vocational training therefore they can create job generating income.
Agriculture, and vocational decent jobs will contribute to be the mainstay of Rwanda’s economy for many years to come; hence it remains imperative that any effort to ensure long lasting solution to young mother’s employment should be directed into bolstering agricultural production and facilitating agricultural produce market accessibility
HPPRI, therefore, will concentrate on the following outcomes in the selected area of operation:
Outcome: Increased income of teenagers and young boys
Output: Empowered teenager mothers and young boys trough vocational trainings
Activities: Establish vocational training center , Training of direct beneficiaries on agriculture value chain techniques for 6 months (production, processing, marketing ), Training on tailoring for 6 months, Training on making shoes, Training on dyeing ,Training on knitting ,Training on embroidery ,Training on financial literacy ,Training on cooperative management and group savings ,Technical support of direct beneficiaries
